FIELD JOURNAL

Free*Space was conceived as a conceptual, digital, relational and theoretical infrastructure, developed in 2015 to support a co-operative process of artistic research and dialogue in Limerick city. The work began from the idea that public-ness is a social, spatial and cultural process integral to democracy. It set out to cognitively map different readings of the city and to test public and counter-public productions of urban space. Practices of enclosure and practices of commoning were investigated through various methods. The work drew together social actors, activists and advocates to share views, practices and/or actions towards the production of spaces of common interest in the city. This section takes the form of a field journal that acts as a record of actions between 2015 and 2019, presented in reverse order.
