I brought material with me and we began the process of making the border. This was much, much quicker than I anticipated; the sewing machine came out and the whole thing was sewn up in no time. There were various questions about how to decorate the banner; I feel that I have to hold out for a certain aesthetic that will sit within the framework of the laboratory, but without being rigid. I think there was some tension around it, maybe a feeling that I was being too firm about it. Collaboration is always a tricky process of negotiation.
