November 10th; I met up with Rod Stoneman in a 'public house' in Kinvara. We had spoken some months previously about our common interest in the work of Alexander Kluge and the representation of capital in films. I had just been reading Frederic Jameson's Goepolitical Aesthetic, in which he uses the term 'cognitive mapping' to describe attempts to grasp the complexity of the system of capitalism.
Rod had contacted me in relation to a good film choice and we met to discuss a series of possible screenings in Limerick in spring 2017. From my point of view, this would create another kind of community of practice, one in which to discuss questions relevant to the second half of my topic, the economisation of space.
